"On the day of her grandmother's funeral, as the grown-up sat in the drawing room of the old house sipping coffee and speaking in hushed tones, Meridy crept quietly up the attic stairs..."
Thus begins a tale of a young girl, an enchanted music box, and a Hall of Mirrors in the middle of a magical forest.
The first half of this album, tracks 1-5 tell the story of Meridy's adventures, which lead her to the final mirror, in which she witnesses the life of a woman from conception to death...
In the second half of the album, tracks 6-14, an old woman sits at a vanity and recounts her life's experiences as she thumbs through a handful of old photographs. Loves and births and roads she never took...
As she lays down to rest, she knows she is dying. Falling through the Veil that separates the living from the dead, she hears an echo of a long lost story calling out to her from her most early memories. One her mother used to read her about a girl and an music box with supernatural powers...
