The Multicolored Playground is a concept album that explores the idea of remixing sounds, ideas, imagery, and stories through the kaleidoscopic lens of play. The source material is widely varied. I started with five highly talented and diverse artists, whose work I wanted to remix. KONTROLLED DEMOLITION is a "post-industrial" band based in Denver, CO. Annunaki is a psytrance duo from Asheville, NC. Intrinsic is an eclectic producer whose music embodies elements of dubstep, breaks, and IDM. Ben Hovey is a similarly diverse artist, whose music incorporates live trumpet and piano with electronics, acid jazz, soul, and dub. And MaRusse, whose photographs were were the source material for the album art, is a multimedia artist who works in photography, performance art, video, and music.
In addition to these remixed works, I've given several of my own tracks a fresh eye, blending elements from earlier releases with new material. And the album's final track, Prayer for Remembering, is entirely new, both in content and in style; it is the first song with lyrics that I have released as Logos.
If you enjoy these tracks, I strongly urge you to explore the artists who so graciously allowed me to remix their works. And feel free to take this journey into play further by making your own remixes.
